Elastic & Flexible Shelf?

When it comes to creativity, there is really no boundaries. Look at this shelf for example. By using a simple elastic band, the designer enables different configurations to be possible. Can you think of any other configuration other than the ones shown above? How about using the same concept in other furnitures?
